The training ship of the Shanghai Maritime University is a 48000 DWT Bulk Carrier built by the SMU itself. After the university's eight-year hand work, the production of the main engine of the training ship has been completed now.
On April 12, the handover ceremony of the SMU training ship' main engine (Length: 8.6m; Breadth: 7.6m; Depth: 9.4m; Weight: 231 tons) was held, which symbolized the completion of all the major equipment's production. Up to date, this training ship is the most advanced and best-equipped vessel with the largest scale of investments all over the world. The construction of the training ship is also one of the key engineering projects of Shanghai.
On the morning of April 12, the handover ceremony of the training ship' main engine was held grandly at the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). Leaders from the China Shipping Container Lines Co., Ltd, the China Shipping Industry Co., Ltd, the China Shipping International Trading Co., Ltd, the China Shipping Industry (Jiang Su) Co., Ltd, the CSSC, the China Classification Society, the MAN Diesel Co., Ltd., and the SMU, and reporters from the news medias in Shanghai attended the ceremony.
The vessel is equipped with the world's most advanced low-speed marine diesel engine of MAN B&W 6S50ME-C7- TII. After many tests, main parameters of the engine can reach the standard of the China Classification Society. And its electrically controlled high pressure oil injection system can meet the standards of the TII Emission Regulations. The CSSC also promised to give first class and high quality post-service to the training ship of SMU.
