Recently, at the invitation of the EuropeAid program for Africa and of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, National Development Unit, Land Transport and Shipping of the Republic of Mauritius, Prof. Zou Yingying from SMU School of Law attended the “‘Rotterdam Rules’ Seminar” in Mauritius as an international speaker.
This seminar was a part of the EuropeAid program for the shipping legislation of Mauritius, which aimed at training the legislative officials, relevant government officials and other relevant interested parties of Mauritius about the “2008 - United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea”—the "Rotterdam Rules" and on the international legislation of all the shipping contracts. The seminar also discussed and offered advice to the reform of Mauritius’ legislation. The program was financially supported by the European Development Fund.
Prof. Zou Yingying, together with other experts on maritime law from UK, US, Netherlands, South Africa, Ghana and UN, was appointed to the expert resources of this aid program and she had made several keynote speeches at the seminar.
