From November 12 to November 13, the Second International Symposium on Eco-Translatology was held in SMU. This symposium was held by the International Association of Eco-Translatology Research and undertaken by the Foreign Language College of SMU. 60 Representatives from more than 30 universities and institutions in China, representatives from EST as well as the Sino-France Association of Scientific Research attended the symposium. 65 dissertations were accepted by this conference.
During the opening ceremony, Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU delivered a speech. He expressed his warm welcome to all the guests on behalf of SMU. The representatives from EST as well as the Sino-France Association of Scientific Research also gave a speech to extend their best congratulations on the opening of the symposium.During the symposium, Mr. Xu Jun, the Vice Resident of Translation Association of China, Ms. Yang Ping, the Deputy Editor of Chinese Translators Journal, Dr. Radegundis Stolze from Technische Universitat Darmstadt, Prof. Douglas Robinson from Lingnan University, Prof. Hu Gongze from Fu Jen Cathedral University and Prof. Song Zhiping from SMU all delivered speeches during the symposium to share their precious research results with others.
There were two keynote addresses and eight specific group discussions. The scholars had a wide and in-depth discussion on the topics namely the introspection and construction of Eco-Translatology, translation as adaptation and selection, the translator's subjectivity and translation criticism, translation eco environment system the methodology and instructional methods of Eco-Translatology, the study on translators in Eco-Translatology perspective as well as the comprehensive research on translation in Eco-Translatology perspective. Prof. Mao Liqun, the dean of Foreign Language College of SMU delivered a closing speech.In order to show gratitude to SMU, Mr.Hu Gengshen, the International Association of Eco-Translatology Research sent a souvenir to Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU.
