Three Papers from SMU Listed as ESI Highly Cited Papers
2014-5-25
According to the latest statistics from the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database, more than three papers with SMU as the institute of first signature are listed as ESI Highly Cited Papers, including two papers by Mr. Chen Lei, Associate Professor from College of Information Engineering, and one by Prof. Zhang Xiaohong from College of Arts and Sciences. Both are the first author.

ESI database is the basic analysis and evaluation tool launched in 2001 by Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), the world famous bibliographic database publishing institute. It’s used to appraise science and research performance and track scientific development trend. ESI has already become one of the important evaluation tools in the academic community worldwide to evaluate the international academic level and influence of universities, academic organizations, countries and regions. The papers which are top 1% most cited in their own disciplines could be listed as ESI Highly Cited Papers, which is regarded as an important indicator for the Ministry of Education in its evaluation of disciplines.

It’s the first time for papers from SMU to be listed as ESI Highly Cited Papers, which is a significant breakthrough of SMU both in great achievements cultivation and in international academic influence.
