Heads of SMU Met with President of University of Antwerp
On the afternoon of October 14, SMU President Prof. Huang Youfang and Vice President Prof. Jin Yongxing met with Prof. Alain Verschoren, President of the University of Antwerp, and Mr. Jean-Pierre Timmermans, President of the Research Council of the University of Antwerp.
In the meeting, Prof. Huang Youfang said the cooperation agreement of the two sides would enhance deep communication and collaboration. He expected the two sides to cooperate in talent cultivation, exchanges of students and teachers, academic research, etc.
Prof. Alain Verschoren said that they attached much importance on internationalization of the University, hoping to implement the agreement as soon as possible with the efforts of two sides.
The two sides had a discussion about the on-going programs including top-talent cultivation, exchanges of students and teachers, etc.
Afterwards, accompanied by Prof. Jin Yongxing, Prof. Alain Verschoren visited Marine Simulator and COSCO library.
University of Antwerp was founded in 2003 after the merger of the three universities which can be dated back to 1852. It has 20,000 students and 2,500 teachers at present. It has been one of the top 200 in many world university rankings. According to the latest Times Higher Education World University Ranking, University of Antwerp ranks 164th.
