On November 23, the Awarding Ceremony of the 11th SMU-NORDEN Scholarship and Award was held. More than 60 people attended the ceremony, including Mr. Jakob Bergholdt, Vice President of NORDEN, all the staff of Norden, Shanghai, Mr. Yang Wanfeng, Vice President of SMU, and representatives of SMU lecturers and students.
Mr. Yang Wanfeng delivered a speech, in which he extented his thanks to Norden Group for its support over the decade, saying that he appreciated the cooperation between NORDEN and SMU which played a significant role in training high level international shipping talents and encouraging SMU teachers and students to strive harder, and he hoped to deepen the cooperation of the two sides.
Mr. Jakob Bergholdt, first of all, gave a brief introduction of Norden and its business in China. Then he showed that Norden has built a solid cooperation relationship with SMU in the past 11 years and almost all the staff in NORDEN shanghai office were SMU graduates, and SMU graduates had a good reputation in the shipping industry. Finally, Mr. Jakob Bergholdt, pointed out that although the industry is stagnant, it will become prospective in the future and he hoped students could continue to study hard and make themselves ready for the industry.
Mr. Jakob Bergholdt and Mr. Yang Wanfeng granted the scholarship certificates to the winners. The students winning the 11th NORDEN Scholarship were junior students Zhu Yili, Lun Leizhi, Li Tingting, Li Yuwen and Xie Yifan, all of whom were awarded 15000 RMB. The NORDEN Best Teacher Award was awarded to Mr. Zhang Yan from College of Economics and Management and Mr. Wang Xiaozhong from Merchant Marine College.

NORDEN Scholarship is granted annually to 5 excellent junior students from shipping-related majors for the purpose of encouraging them in study. Aiming to encourage teachers to make greater achievements in teaching and research, NORDEN Best Teacher Award is given annually to 2 teachers chosen by students who are excellent in teaching and research.
