On the morning of June 5, the 2017 World Transport Convention was held at the China National Convention Center. Wan Gang, Vice-chairman of the CPPCC, President of the China Association for Science and Technology, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Prof. Huang Youfang, President of the Shanghai Maritime University, Chairman of the China Association of Navigation, and Vice-chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Convention attended the convention together with over 30 faculties and graduate students from related disciplines like communications and transport, navigation, logistics and so on.
Six parts of events were included in 2017 World Transport Convention: the opening ceremony and keynote speeches, academic forums, expositions, activities concerning the Belt and Road (International) Transportation Union, the 2017 Bridge Design Competition for College Students, special activities and others. It was directed by the Ministry of Transport, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the National Railway Administration, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the China Railway Corporation, undertook by the Chinese Highway and Transportation Society and assisted by the China Institute of Navigation and others.
Shanghai Maritime University was the academic support unit of the convention. Teachers of related college from SMU participated in the seminars and academic exchanges.
conference also arranged 220 academic exchanges with about 1,300 reports of
various characteristics being made. More than 5,000 experts and scholars in the
field of communications and transportation shared their views on hotspots like
the interconnection of "Belt and Road" traffic, the high-speed railway
technology, the future traffic, the improvement of world’s long-span bridges, the
intelligent transportation, the sharing economy, green travel, as well as the
developing trend of cutting-edge technologies.
