Ms. Men Yanping, Deputy Secretary of SMU Party Committee, Visited World Maritime University (WMU)

Recently, Ms. Men Yanping, Deputy Secretary of SMU Party Committee and Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection was invited to visit WMU in Malmo, Sweden. During the visit, she met with Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, President of WMU, Prof. Ma Shuo, Vice President of WMU and other representatives.

Ms. Men Yanping said WMU and SMU had maintained close exchanges and cooperation for more than two decades. The project International Transport and Logistics Management jointly organized by the two universities have been successfully held for more than 10 years. She hoped that the two sides could make further cooperation to contribute to the development of maritime and shipping industry. Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry introduced the development history and the running situation of WMU, as well as the opportunities for WMU after moving to the new site.

During the visit, Ms. Men Yanping was also invited to attend the grand opening of the Copenhagen School of Marine Engineering and Technology Management’s (MSK) new premises and delivered a speech on the Ceremony. There she met with Mr. Eric Andreassen, President of MSK, and Mr. Thomas B. Dragoe, Vice President of MSK. The two sides said they would continue to play their respective advantages to promote cooperation between SMU and MSK. Ms. Men Yanping also talked with SMU’s exchanged student representatives who were studying at MSK. MSK is directly under the National Maritime Safety Administration of Denmark and also one of the largest maritime engineering colleges in Denmark. Since 2011, SMU and MSK have benefited tremendously from student study-abroad programs, faculty exchanges, resources sharing as well as cooperation of many other forms.
