Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2006, SMU and HZ University of Applied Sciences jointly organized an international cooperation project, including two undergraduate majors: Electrical Engineering and Intelligent Control (Sino-Dutch) and Mechanical and Electronic Engineering (Sino-Dutch). The enrollment has been included into the national college admission plan in the fall. The two undergraduate majors were first enrolled in 2007 with the duration of 4 years. The project aims to cultivate innovative mechatronic engineering talents in line with international standards. Both sides have carefully formulated the training plan to give full play to the teaching expertise of each other and settled the school running mechanism with complementary advantages. Under the existing conditions of teacher resources and educational resources, this kind of training mode can maximize the students' learning potential and provide a higher and broader development platform for students.
Through 10 years of consistent development, nearly one thousand of students majored in this two has graduated. Up to now, 301 students who have passed the interview have been sent to study abroad. Most of the students have showed excellent performance and work in international well-known multinational companies or continue to study in famous universities abroad after graduation. The students who stayed in China also showed higher comprehensive quality and most of them have been employed by famous companies. Many students entered the well-known universities to continue their postgraduate study.
The encouraging results of education comes from the idea of training high level internationalized engineering talents, from the support of heads in related departments and colleges at all levels, from the arduous teaching and management of teachers from both sides and also from the hard work of all students.
