On May 5th, International Shipping Chartering and Cargo Insurance Workshop was held jointly by SMU, I. M. Skaugen Marine and BI Norwegian School of Management in SMU. The workshop was attended by guests from various companies such as Skaugen (China) Investment Co., Ltd., Skaugen (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd., Willis Insurance Brokers Co., Ltd., Shanghai Secco Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Shanghai Liquefied Natural Gas Co., Ltd., Wanxiang Resource Co., Ltd. and etc. as well as students and teachers of School of Law and some of the SMU foreign students, totaling 100-over participants.
Ms. Cathrine Bjune, Associate professor of BI Norwegian School of Management and Guest Professor of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, made a special report on category of shipping lease contract, laytime & demurrage, responsibilities and obligations of lesser/lessee, cargo insurance and some related issues. After the lectures, the guests accompanied by SMU staff visited the Yangshan Deep Water Port.
