At 21: 38 of April 30th, 2010, on the Shanghai Huangpu River, an aquatic flag-ship team passed by the rostrum of the Expo opening ceremony mightily with the flags of 218 participating countries and regions as well as international organizations of the World Exposition Shanghai China 2010 erecting on the ships.
The phalanx on the water constituted by 22 motorboats and 220 flag-ships were all driven by teachers and students from SMU, which demonstrated outstanding professional quality of SMU teachers and students, making it a unique and excellent scene of World Expo Shanghai China 2010.
To cooperate with the opening ceremony of Shanghai World Expo, SMU Merchant Marine College selected 396 teachers and students including: senior captains, backbone teachers, post-graduate students and undergraduate students, to fullfil the performance task as drivers, coordinators, sailors and helmsmen of the motor boats.
