From May 11th to 21st, Mr. Alexander F. Hickethier, Vice president of San Diego Maritime College of America gave lectures to the junior year students majored in Navigation in SMU Merchant Marine College. The courses were Introduction to International Maritime Conventions, Marine Accident Report Writing and Maritime English. Prof.Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, warmly received Mr. Hickethier.
In class, Mr. Hickethier illustrated systems of International Maritime Conventions and tutored students to write in-depth maritime reports on accidents at sea. His lectures were vivid and inspiring that students not only obtained the professional knowledge, but also encouraged to learn maritime English.
During his stay in SMU, Mr. Hickethier discussed with teachers of Merchant Marine College on the compilation of textbook Maritime English Reading and Writing.
