Mr. Barry House, President of Parliament of Western Australia visit SMU

On June 1st, a delegation from Parliament of Western Australia (WA) headed by President Barry House visited SMU. The delegation includes Mr. Matt Benson, Deputy President of Parliament of WA , Mr. Malcolm Peacock, Secretary General of Parliament of WA, and Mr. Zhuang Binjun, Regional Director of Government of WA in China and other 3 guests.

Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU had a cordial meeting with Mr. Barry House and his delegation. During the talk, Prof. Jin expressed that the master’s program on Logistics Engineering and Management jointly run by SMU and the University of Western Australia was progressing very smoothly. He hoped that the two universities would continue to maintain the good cooperation, nurture more high-level logistics personnel. He also hoped that SMU could develop exchanges and relationships with other universities in WA with the strong support of WA government.

Mr. Barry House expressed gratitude to SMU for the kind hospitality. He said that WA is the largest state in Australia and it keeps a very close trading relationship with China. WA attaches great importance to education and it is strategic to launch cooperation with China's best universities.

After the meeting, the guests visited SMU Maritime Simulation Center with the company of Prof. Jin Yongxing.
