On June 26th, 2010 LuJiaZui Forum:Structural Adjustment and Financial Reform After the Crisis was launched in the Shanghai Pudong Shangri-La Hotel. This forum was hosted by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the People's Bank of China, the China Banking Regulatory Commission, China Securities Regulatory Commission and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission. Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng, together with government officials and financial leaders from around the world gathered at the forum. They had a lively discussion focusing on Shanghai International Financial Center, the RMB internationalization, and the Financial System Construction and Innovation.
As a guest speaker, the President of SMU Prof. Yu Shicheng attended the theme session Shipping Finance: to Seek a Breakthrough in Innovation. Prof. Yu Shicheng pointed out that the rules of the game in shipping finance are basically results of the Anglo-American Law System. The three decades of reform and opening-up has brought earth-shaking changes to the shipping and financial industry in China. Chinese elements and Chinese interests should be embodied in the process of the formulation and revision in international shipping financial rules. The speech of Prof. Yu was warmly applauded by over 100 participants. After the meeting, the main points of his speech were reprinted by website such as Sina, Sohu, Eastday and Ifeng.
