SMU co-organizes the 1st International China Maritime Museum Seminar

On July 6th, the 1st International China Maritime Museum Seminar co-organized by China Maritime Museum, SMU, China Institution of Navigation and the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers was held successfully. Mr. Song Dexing, Chief of Bureau of Water Transport, Prof. Matsuura Akira of Kansai University delivered speeches during the seminar. Prof. Huang Youfang, Vice President of SMU and Prof. Shi Chaojian, Dean of SMU Merchant Marine College presided over the International Seminar and the Port, Shipping and Marine Architecture Association respectively. The three professors briefed on their thesis in the field of port and shipping research and marine architecture.

Through 4 years of planning and construction, the China Maritime Museum was opened on July 5th. This 1st Seminar takes the theme of the Place and Goal of Chinese Maritime Culture. Mr. Song Dexing acknowledged the efforts done to support the construction of China Maritime Museum and hopes that SMU could enhance its communication with the Museum in the research of Maritime Culture.
