On September 28th, Prof. Yu Shicheng, President of SMU and leaders of relevant department paid a visit to Korea Maritime Institute. Prof. Yu Shicheng, President of SMU was invited to give a lecture on three topics: the construction of Shanghai international shipping center and financial center; the development trend of international shipping market and the crisis and strategies of shipping companies; the Sino-Korea shipping and logistics cooperation in future.
Korea Maritime Institute firstly extended warm welcome to guests from SMU. Then both sides had a review on the cooperation between SMU, Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) and Korea Maritime Institute. They had established cooperation projects like periodically exchanging scholars, doing research project together, learning from each other's papers and the annual meeting for analyzing the market trend of SISI-KMI. All these had made great influence in the field of Sino-Korea shipping.
The two universities expressed that they would deepen their cooperation in order to make progress together. The lecture given by Prof. Yu Shicheng, President of SMU was praised by the participants of the lecture such as navigation association and research institute in Korea.
The Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) is a think tank and research center develop in South Korean policies on marine affairs and fisheries, operated by the South Korean government through of the Office of Government Policy Coordination. KMI was established under its current name in 1997, though expanded from a research center created in 1984 specializing in shipping economics.
