The 2011 NSS-8 (Test of Japanese Major) passing rate of students majoring in Japanese of SMU first broke 90%, reaching 93.3%, which is 22% higher than the national average passing rate. Percentages of the scores equal or greater than 80 points were as high as 44.4%, which also beat a new record of SMU.
The NSS-8 is hosted by the National Foreign Language Teaching Advisory Board (NFLTAB) of the Ministry of Education of PRC. The test is designed for senior students majoring in Japanese in order to evaluate the professional levels of the students and the teaching levels of the Japanese major in China’s universities.
