Guided by Prof. Zhao Gang and the other 5 teachers, 116 junior students majoring in International Shipping Management from the Transport College of SMU visited the Graduate School of Maritime Sciences of the Kobe University for academic exchanges.

Ms. Kong Duozi Yusufu, Chinese Deputy Consul General in Osaka delivered a speech on behalf of the Consulate-general of the PRC in Osaka. She extended her warm welcome to the teachers and students from SMU. She also expressed that this year was not only the 40th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, but also the China-Japan Year of People’s Friendly Exchanges decided by the two nations. Therefore, the exchanges among the young people, especially among the university students would avail them the opportunities to learn from each other, deepen their mutual understanding, and enhance their friendships. Therefore, such exchanges were of great significance for the future of China-Japan relations.

Founded in 1902, the Kobe University is a leading national university in Japan. The university holds a total of about 16,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. In 2003, SMU and the Kobe University signed an Academic Exchange Agreement.
