On April 28, Mr. Abdallah Abdillahi Miguil, H. E. Ambassador and Mr. Ismail Mohamed Djama of the Embassy of the Republic of DJIBOUTI in China paid a visit to SMU. Prof. Yu Shicheng, Chairman of SMU University Council, Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU and leaders of the International Education College and the Merchant Marine College gave the guests a warm reception.
Prof. Yu Shicheng delivered a welcome speech. He expected that the communication and cooperation between the two sides in the fields of maritime education and training could be promoted after this visit. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU gave an introduction of the recent developments of SMU, the international cooperation with oversea institutions, and especially the exchange programs and cooperation between African institutions and SMU.
The ambassador elaborated on the status quo of ports and shipping industry of the Republic of DJIBOUTI. He hoped that the relevant maritime institutions of the Republic of Djibouti and SMU could learn from each other in the realm of maritime education and port construction.
After the meeting, the guests also paid a visit to the COSTAMARE Engine Room Integrated Laboratory, the Marine Engine Simulator and the library of SMU. The ambassador spoke highly of the teaching and experimental equipment of SMU.
