On the afternoon of May 9, the Opening Ceremony of SMU Ocean Festival 2012 was held in the hall of SMU library. The theme of this festival was “Embrace the Blue Ocean and Protect the Shipping Right”
The festival would last till the end of May. Numerous sea-oriented activities, namely Logo Design Competition, Poster Design Competition, Speech Contest on Marine Literature Reading, Shipping Right Knowledge Competition, Field Research on Navigation Safety. Lectures, theme exhibitions, micro-movie collection, and debate competition about ocean and shipping would be held, too. This festival aims at popularizing the shipping right and ocean knowledge among the teachers and students and broadening their vision beyond books.
