On the morning of June 26th, Mr. Xu Zuyuan, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Transport of PRC, together with Li Liangsheng, Deputy Director-General of Department of Human Resources and Labor, Li Hongyin, Deputy Director-General of Department of Water Transport, Li Zuping, Deputy Director-General of Department of Science and Technology, Yang Zan, Deputy Director-General of Department of International Cooperation, and Zheng Heping, Deputy Director-General of the Maritime Safety Administration of PRC visited the Lin Gang Campus of the Shanghai Maritime University for inspection and guidance.
Accompanied by Prof. Yu Shicheng, Chairman of SMU University Council, and Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, Mr. Xu visited the Overwater Training Center of the Merchant Marine College, COSTAMARE Engine Room Integrated Laboratory, the Simulative Center of Navigation and the beacon on campus. He had a deep discussion with the teachers concerned, and offered very insightful and original ideas to the construction and development of the labs and researches of SMU.
On the afternoon of June 26th, Mr. Xu delivered a speech Reflection on the Development of China’s Maritime Universities to the SMU teachers and students in the auditorium. His speech stated the pressure, spirits, management, dynamic, prospects and strengths of China’s maritime universities. He also encouraged all the teachers and students at SMU to do real practice to create the bright future, and contribute more to China’s shipping industry.
