On November 28, the Awarding Ceremony of the 10th SMU-NORDEN Scholarship and Award was held. More than 70 people attended the ceremony, including Mr. Jakob Bergholdt, Vice President of NORDEN Group, Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, and previous scholarship winners.
Prof. Jin Yongxing delivered a speech, in which he thanked NORDEN Group for its support over the decade, saying that he appreciated the cooperation between NORDEN and SMU which played a significant role in training high level international shipping talents and encouraging SMU teachers and students to strive harder, and he hoped to deepen the cooperation of the two sides.
Mr. Jakob Bergholdt reviewed NORDEN’s history, and explained its business in China and the status quo of the international shipping market. He said that almost all the staff in NORDEN shanghai office were SMU graduates, and SMU graduates had a good reputation in the shipping industry. He expected a continuous cooperation with SMU.
Mr. Jakob Bergholdt and Prof. Jin Yongxing granted the scholarship certificates to the winners. The students winning the 10th NORDEN Scholarship were junior students Lv Shaojie, Sun Xiaogang, Zhang Shiyi, Jin Yige and Wang Peng, respectively from School of Economics & Management, College of Transport & Communications, Law School and Merchant Marine College. The NORDEN Best Teacher Award was awarded to Mr. Liu Lanhui from College of Transport & Communications and Mr. Yang Zhilong from Merchant Marine College.

Aiming to encourage teachers to make greater achievements in teaching and research, NORDEN Best Teacher Award is given annually to 2 teachers chosen by students who are excellent in teaching and research.
