On May 27th, the delegation of 15 people from the “Round-table Conference of China and Northern European Artic Pole Research Institutes”, headed by Mr. Yang Huigen, Director General of Polar Research Institute of China, visited Shanghai Maritime University. Prof. Jin Yongxing, SMU Chairman of University Council, and heads of Merchant Marine College, Ocean Science and Engineering College and International Office met with the guests.
Prof. Jin extent warm welcome to the guests and expressed his wishes that this visit could help build a good relationship between SMU and the Northern European maritime universities and colleges, research institutes, and shipping companies etc., and lead to successful future cooperation. During the visit, representatives such as Mr. Nikolay Monko, Deputy Head of Northern Sea Route Administration of Russia, and Mr. Ossur Skarphedinsson, Former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Iceland asked questions about SMU.
After the meeting, the delegation also visited the Maritime Simulation Center of SMU.
