Graduation Ceremony of Second SMU-RMU Joint B.Sc. Degree Program in Logistics Management Held

The Graduation Ceremony of the second SMU-RMU Joint B.Sc. Degree Program in Logistics Management and the 2015 Graduation Ceremony of RMU (Regional Maritime University) were held in Accra, Ghana, on June 6th local time. 33 graduates of the 2nd program in Logistics Management were issued diplomas from SMU and RMU, and gained B.Sc. Degree conferred by PRC.

Mr. Yang Wanfeng, Vice President of SMU, Prof. Elvis Nyarko, newly-elected President of RMU, Mr. Leonard Koroma, Minister of Transport and Aviation of Sierra Leone and Chairman of RMU Council, Mr. Dzifa Attivor, Minister of Transport of Ghana, Mr. Momodou Aki Bayo, Minister of Transport and Construction of Gambia, Mr. Binyah Kesselly, Director of Maritime Administration of Liberia and other relevant heads attended the ceremony.

Yang Wanfeng, Vice President of SMU conveyed his congratulations to the 33 graduates, and expressed his appreciation to the hardworking teachers. He also encouraged the graduates jointly trained by SMU and RMU to make contributions to the shipping and logistics industry of Africa as well as to the friendship between China and West Africa.

Prof. Elvis Nyarko said that since 2011 when the SMU-RMU Joint B.Sc. Degree Program in Logistics Management was initiated, significant progress has been made and the program has gained approval among the students and parents in the neighboring countries of Africa. Prof. Elvis Nyarko thanked SMU for the cooperative education program in Ghana, which has made great contribution to regional construction of Central and West Africa.

The 2015 graduates came from Ghana, Cameroon, Togo and other 5 countries in Africa. The Best Student of this program, Fomukong Terence Soh, coming from Cameroon, was also elected as the only 2015 Best Graduate of RMU. Fomukong Terence Soh gave a speech as a student representative in the ceremony.

On June 5th, Accra, Ghana time, Vice President of SMU Yang Wanfeng and his entourages attended the meeting of new Council of RMU. Before the meeting began, Mr. Yang Wanfeng met with the newly-elected President, Prof. Elvis Nyarko and the former President, Prof. Turkson. He extended great gratitude to Prof. Turkson for his pioneering work in this program, and looked forward to Prof. Turkson’s visit to SMU in his convenient time.
