Mr. Thabo Thage, Consul General of the Republic of South Africa in Shanghai, with other representatives, paid a visit to SMU on June 23rd. Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, together with Head of International Office, met with the guests.
Prof. Huang Youfang extended his welcome to Mr. Thabo Thage and his representatives. Then he gave a brief introduction of SMU to the guests. Prof. Huang mentioned that SMU has established successful cooperative relationship with African colleges and universities and hoped that Mr. Thabo Thage could help promote the cooperation between SMU and related universities in South Africa.
Mr. Thabo Thage showed that South Africa is sparing no efforts to pursue ocean economy. Therefore, the government is attaching great importance to developing logistics and shipping industries. Since SMU is quite influential in such areas, he looks forward to the cooperation between SMU and colleges and universities in South Africa.
