China-Germany Artist Cultural Exchange Exhibition

The opening ceremony of China-Germany Artist Cultural Exchange Exhibition was held at the hall of Cosco Library, SMU on the morning of July 1. Present at the ceremony were Mr. Yang Wanfeng, Vice President of SMU, Mr. Lisniar and Ms. Wang Huifang , German artists, heads of SMU Library and the College of Arts and Sciences and hundreds of teacher and student representatives.  

First of all, Mr. Yang Wanfeng delivered a speech during which he looked back and admired the progress made by the College of Arts and Sciences over the year. He showed that this exchange exhibition is a new model of art teaching, which can broaden students’ horizon and strengthen international exchanges and he wished the exhibition a big success.

Mr. Lisniar, German artist and a Chinese-German artist, Ms. Wang Huifang gave their own speeches separately. First of all, Mr. Lisniar reviewed his own artistic career and thought it is mutually beneficial to promote the Chinese-Germany artistic and cultural exchanges. Mr. Lisniar presented SMU a lion sculpture created by him and a tin plate with the city emblem of Duisberg, Germany. Ms. Wang Huifang gave a brief introduction of the similarities and differences between Chinese and German arts.

Prof. Le Zhenwen, Dean of College of Arts and Sciences elaborated the importance of strengthening inter-disciplinary and international exchanges from the perspective of fostering students’ artistic thoughts and manipulative ability and keeping in pace with international artistic trends. And he hoped that SMU students could concentrate on every detail and that their works could stand up to scrutiny.
