The 2015 SMU Commencement was successfully held on the afternoon of July 3. Present at the commencement were Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, Prof. Kong Fancun, Vice President of SMU, Mr. Xiao Jiabao, Vice President of SMU, Mr. Yang Wanfeng, Vice President of SMU, Ms. Men Yanping, Vice Chairman of SMU University Council, Mr. Wang Haiwei, Vice President of SMU, heads of colleges and schools, teacher representatives, parents representatives and the entire body of 2015 graduates.
First of all, Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU delivered an enthusiastic speech. On behalf of SMU faculty, he extended his congratulation to 2015 graduates, who had successfully completed their studies and were ready to embark on their new journey. Prof. Huang showed that in the last four years, SMU witnessed growth of thousands of excellent young people who harvested in their studies, got mature in their spirits and learned to cherish their friendship. And in the same time, thanks to the spirit of never giving up and always pursuing excellence, SMU also achieved great progress itself. Prof. Huang Youfang wished that all the graduates could love their motherland, remember Chinese history, assume their own responsibilities, and be ambitious, persistent and aspiring in the future life. Last but not the least, he wished every graduate could understand the true essence of life, love their life and show his/her elegance in life at every moment.
And Prof. Huang Youfang issued a special certificate of graduation to Mr. Tang Xu , a undergraduate of College of Information Engineering, broken in body but firm in spirit.
On behalf of thousands of graduates, Feng Xinlan, an undergraduate from School of Economics & Management, introduced her achievement in the last four year, extended her gratitude to her tutors and classmates and showed her deep attachment to SMU.
Zhang Yangguoer, a famous anchorwoman and alumna of SMU gave a speech, too. She first reviewed her golden college times and then shared her working experience and reflections with 2015 graduates.
2015 graduates presented four paintings themed on kites as gifts to SMU as their Alma Mater, which means that no matter how far and how high the graduates might fly, they are always connected with SMU.
Finally, 234 excellent graduates at the Shanghai municipal level received the degree awarding rites.
