Prof. Huang Youfang Attended Second Forum for Presidents of Chinese and Russian Communication and Transport Universities

The Second Forum for Presidents of Chinese and Russian Communication and Transport Universities, themed on “Exchange and integration, driven by innovation”, was held in Beijing on Sept 4. There were more than 100 presidents from over 60 universities of China and Russia attending the forum. Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, was invited to present.

Prof. Huang spoke at the forum that Shanghai Maritime University with a history of 106 years is a traditional communication and transport university and features shipping, logistics and ocean science, both of which can ensure good cooperation with similar universities in Russia. Prof. Huang also mentioned that for the time being, Chinese key strategies such as “One Belt and One Road” are exerting profound influence on national communication and transport, as well as logistics fields. At this moment, in order to push the development of Sino-Russian communication and transport cause, SMU would like to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with both Chinese and Russian communication and transport universities in shipping, logistics, sea-rail combined transport, ports and free-trade zone constructions as well as relevant economic, management, legal, humanity fields.

As an important event to promote education collaboration between China and Russia, the forum was co-hosted by Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Beijing Jiaotong University. During the forum, attendees discussed hot issues concerning China and Russia communication & transportation development and relevant higher education. In the end, as a fruit of the forum, Beijing Declaration was signed and issued by university presidents from both countries. And Prof. Huang Youfang gave his signature on the declaration on behalf of SMU.
