2015 Lloyd's Register Foundation International Workshop on Transport & Environment was convened at SMU. Undertaken by College of Transport & Communications of SMU and sponsored by Lloyd's Register Foundation, the workshop was an outreach session of the annual meeting of the project team for the cooperative project Optimising Operations and Management of Multi-Modal Urban Transport Systems for Environmental Improvement, initiated by Prof. Ge Yingen, Dean of College of Transport &Communications.
The workshop attracted about 40 attendees. Among them were transport and environment experts and representatives of enterprise, government and postgraduate in the fields. They had a heated discussion on such internationally hot issues as the relation between communication & transportation, and air quality management. During the opening ceremony, Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, gave his speech, on behalf of the organizer. In his speech, Prof. Huang at first extended both his welcome to experts and scholars all over the world and his thanks to Lloyd's Register Foundation for its support of SMU’s scientific research. Then he gave a brief introduction of SMU’s history, status quo and characteristics. Finally, Prof. Huang wished the workshop success.
