On September 12th, over 4000 undergraduate and more than 1500 postgraduate freshmen swarm into and began their school life at the beautiful Lingang Campus, SMU.
Relevant colleges and departments have made a concerted effort for days and scrutinized every detail to receive freshmen smoothly. And over 1000 volunteers were called in to assist. Part of them rushed to Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station, to receive freshmen and their accompanied parents coming from afar. A number of buses were delivered to pick them up to the campus. When the freshmen and their parents arrived at SMU, another group of volunteers helped them carry the luggage, solved their problems and directed the traffic. In addition, the policy of Greenway for Freshmen and other associated thorough supporting policy were carried out continuously on one hand to help freshmen from poor families get enrolled preferentially and on the other hand to help them finish study by means of scholarship, loan, allowance and tuition waiver.
