In the beginning of the new university semester, except for freshmen all over China, SMU also received international students from the rest of the world. The opening ceremony for them was held at Cosco Lecture Hall on the afternoon of September 14th. Present at the ceremony were Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, heads of International Education College, International Office and relevant colleges of SMU, and Prof. Elvis Kofi NYARKO, President of Regional Maritime University (RMU), as well as teacher representatives and the 60 plus international students.
During the welcome message, Prof. Huang Youfang first congratulated 2015 international students on their enrollment by SMU. Then he mentioned that SMU enjoys high prestige in the maritime field. Therefore, studying here can earn them both a solid foundation for career and a stroke of excellence in life. As last, Prof. Huang Youfang showed that SMU will spare no efforts to support international education, so that the university can attract more and more excellent international students.
Prof. ElvisKofi NYARKO in his speech gave his congratulation to 2015 international students, part of whom are juniors majoring in logistic management and the rest, freshmen studying other majors. Prof. ElvisKofi NYARKO wished that they can make full use of SMU teaching facility and faculty to grasp professional knowledge and that at their free time, they can learn more about China and spread their own culture, therefore becoming culture-exchange envoys of two countries.
