Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), and another 2 delegates, visited SMU on September 16th. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Chairman of SMU University Council, together with heads of International Office and College of Transport &Communications received the guests.
Prof. Jin Yongxing extended a warm welcome and gave a brief introduction of SMU to President Ismail. Prof. Jin Yongxing mentioned that SMU has had frequent exchanges with AASTMT for years and that the two universities signed a new inter-university cooperation framework agreement which deepens cooperation between the two parties. In the past year, AASTMT sent three groups of students conducting exchange studies at SMU, which achieved very good results. Finally, Prof. Jin expressed his hope that SMU and AASTMT could expand their cooperation and develop cooperation in such fields as student and faculty exchanges and scientific research.
President Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag showed that he was impressed by the beautiful campus and the fine teaching facilities of SMU and he hoped that his visit could deepen cooperation between the two universities.
The two parties negotiated on the joint-training of undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students, the joint-training of faculty and the scientific research cooperation and hoped that these cooperation programs could be implemented as soon as possible.
During the visit, President Ismai Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag also visited such teaching facilities as the Maritime Simulation Center, the Engine Room Integrated Laboratory and the Seamanship Training Center of SMU.
