Prof. Oleksandr Babachenko, Director of Z.I.Nekrasov Iron and Steel Institute of Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and Dr. Oleksii Merkulov, vice-doctorate of Z.I.Nekrasov Iron & Steel Ibstitute, accompanied by Mr. Li Qianru, ex-Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Ukraine, visited SMU on Oct, 19th. They were received by Prof. Kong Fancun, Vice President of SMU, as well as heads and lecturers from International Office and College of Marine Ocean Science and Engineering.
Prof. Kong Fancun first extent his warm welcome to the honorable guests and gave them a brief introduction of SMU. He said that the Z.I.Nekrasov Iron and Steel Institute of NAS is a major scientific base of European iron and steel research and it is a great honor to have Prof. Babachenko join in the discipline construction of “shipbuilding and oceanography engineering” at SMU. Finally, Prof. Kong Fancun expressed his hope that SMU and the Z.I.Nekrasov Iron and Steel Institute of NAS could learn from each other and deepen their corporation and that SMU could get support and instruction from NAS in terms of relevant research.
Prof. Babachenko first extent his heartfelt thanks to SMU for the warm reception. And then he introduced related background and research fields of the institute. Finally, he wished that his visit could lay a solid foundation for the bi-lateral corporation in the future.
After meeting, Prof. Babachenko visited SMU Lingang new campus, including Maritime Simulation Center and library.
