Abstract: The maximal subalgebras of restricted Lie algebras of Cartan type over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>3 were classified by H. Melikyan in 2005. In a recent work, we aim to classify the maximal subalgebras of the non-restricted Lie algebras of Cartan type over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>3, using a method used by Strade in the classification theorem of simple modular Lie algebras and motivating by a similar work in Lie superalgebra case.
