On July 6th to 9th, the 16th international conference of transportation professionals (CICTP) co-sponsored by SMU and Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA) was held at SMU. CICTP launched by COTA is so far the largest transportation conference at home and widely recognized in its filed. The meeting, themed on “Green and multimodal Transportation & Logistics”, received nearly 500 drafts, among which, 216 manuscripts were accepted. The conference attracted more than 800 experts and scholars from 20 countries and regions to attend. The attendees included 2 National Academy of Engineering Academicians, 9 chief editors of SCI/SSCI source journal in transportation field, and 17 scholars who subsidized by the National Science Foundation of China-Outstanding Youth Foundation, National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars .
The conference consisted of 5 plenary sessions which were separately themed on “Efficiency & Green Communication”, “Communication Technology & Management Frontier”, “Sustainable & Multi-Mode Transportation System”, “Review & Expectation of Traffic Planning” and “The Future of Communication Transportation System”, 2 special seminars, 8 seminars on hot topics, 17 technical seminars and 2 Lloyd’s Register of Shipping Foundation seminars. The whole conference contained 260 academic reports, among which, 91 reports were written by foreign scholars. Meanwhile, the special seminar, titled with “Meeting with Editors in Chief”, provided a chance for those scholars to have a close communication with the international journal editors. Moreover, in the conference, it also had World Bank Forum. Several experts and scholars from home and abroad delivered their reports themed on “Global Multimodal Transportation” & “Green Logistics & Intelligent Logistics System Platform”. Besides, they had a heated discussion on how to put the overseas successful experience of multimodal transportation into practice in China.
This year was the 20th anniversary of COTA’s foundation. In the evening of July 8, experts and scholars who attended the conference celebrated the pageant altogether.
