On February 22, Mr. Chikamori Shio, Vice Chairman from Sōka Gakkai, together with his delegation came to visit SMU. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Chairman of SMU University Council, relevant colleges and department representatives had an informal discussion with all the guests.
Firstly, Prof. Jin Yongxing showed sincere welcome to Mr. Chikamori Shio and his delegation; he spoke highly of its 10-year’s hard work and contribution to present navigation culture and sailors’ life afloat through high quality photograph works.
Then, Mr. Chikamori Shio thanked for the strong support and assistance that SMU provided for them to hold photographic exhibition at SMU and other maritime academies as chairman unit of International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA). And he hoped that both sides could carry out more forms of communication and cooperation in the future.
In this visit, the guests brought new photograph works, and renewed the works showed all year round in Merchant Marine College NYK Lecture Hall.
Shutterbugs in Sōka Gakkai have had tens of photographic exhibitions themed on sailors’ life, showing working situation and living environment of sailors, propagating world peace and human happiness in International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other places around the world in the past 30 years.
