On the morning of March 2, two dynamic accreditation officers of the Nautical Institute, London (NI) visited SMU and conducted two-day accreditation work based on the online application of the Dynamic Positioning Centre-Shanghai Maritime University. Prof. Shi Xin, Vice President of SMU, met the guests.
Prof. Shi Xin expressed sincere welcome to the two officers. He said that sailors who got certification of dynamic positioning were rare at home, and if sailors trained abroad, there existed problems like expensive costs, tedious procedure, long period and so on, which increased cost of enterprises and burden of sailors. SMU strove to build high-level maritime university with global influence, paid high attention to maritime education and training. The establishment of dynamic positioning training center will provide various benefits in training quality, cost, professional certification acceptance for customer enterprises and sailors at home.
It’s the second time for Capt. Ghulam Hussain, authentication manager from the NI to identify and audit to SMU. Through two days’ lessons, observing students in class, chatting with students after class, visiting training facilities in SMU, he thought that the comprehensive teaching ability of SMU had promoted a lot. Mr. Hussain hoped that the two parties could carry out more cooperation in the aspects of expending international sailor membership system and dynamic positioning related training.
SMU dynamic positioning training center is a training institution founded by SMU and C-MAR Group. Both sides agreed that dynamic positioning training center should work at its full capacity as a brand-new platform in order to cultivate personnel training system which integrates production and study, and make new contribution to the development of national shipping and ocean engineering industry.
