Mr.Huang Youfang Met with the Former President of Iceland Mr. Grímsson

On May 26, Mr. Huang Youfang, President of SMU met with Mr. ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, Former President of Iceland, Chairman of Arctic Circle Forum in Dalian. Both sides had a deep exchanges about promoting arctic affairs, deepening cooperation on arctic science and research, enhancing personnel training in the North Pole, constructing cooperation platform and reached a preliminary agreement.

 

Mr. Huang Youfang introduced the overview of SMU, pointing out that SMU always paid high attention on attendance and development of arctic affairs. Till now, SMU had 15 people who got the experience of shipping to the North Pole, which was the most among navigation colleges in China. He hoped that all aspects of cooperation with the North Pole could be enhanced in the future.

 

Mr. ólafur Ragnar Grímsson appreciated the efforts that SMU and China Institution of Navigation did for the development of the North Pole. He said that after he left the office, his main work was to promote more countries, more companies, and more institutions to cooperate with the North Pole. He sincerely invited Mr. Huang Youfang to attend activities related with Arctic Circle Forum, expecting to cooperate with SMU to promote sustainable development of arctic region.
