On the morning of August 27, Graduation Ceremony of 12th SMU&WMU MSc Project on International Transport and Logistics was held at Renaissance @ Shanghai Pudong Hotel. Attendances at the ceremony were Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, President of WMU, Prof. Ma Shuo, Vice-President of WMU and Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, as well as related heads, lecturer representatives and Alumni representatives from 21 Century Silk Road Research Institute, Transport & Communications College, International Education College and International Office of SMU.
Prof. Huang Youfang and Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry gave their own speeches respectively. They warmly congratulated the graduates and spoke highly of the plentiful fruits gained by the MSc Project on International Transport and Logistics in the past 13 years. They said SMU and WMU would further strengthen cooperation in maritime education and science research on the basis of this project.
In 2017, a total of 18 students graduated from this project, including 1 overseas student from Ghana. Up to August 27, more than 90% of the graduated have landed their jobs. The MSc Project on International Transport and Logistics was launched in 2004. Since then, the project has cultivated over 380 top experts in the field of international transport and logistics, which included more than 30 international students from German, America, Greece, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea and other countries.
At the ceremony, Prof. Huang Youfang and Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry issued master's degree certificates and diplomas for the graduates. The representative from the Institute of International Containers Lessors (IICL) awarded the SMU-IICL scholarship for the outstanding graduates. For expressing their gratitude, the graduates presented souvenirs to SMU and WMU.
