Recently, ITL 2017 (A Post-Graduate Programme in International Transport and Logistics Offered by World Maritime University in collaboration with Shanghai Maritime University) paid a successful visit to YihaiJiali(YIJIA) Logistics company. The followings are reports from some students of this program.
After40 minutes’ trip, we finally arrived YIJIA Logistics. YIJIA Logistics is invested by SingaporeFortune International Limited Group which mainly aims at grain and oilprocessing, warehousing, logistics, and the domestic and international trades aswell.
Mr.Sheng, chairman of the board who has devoted himself into this company for 15years gave an excellent speech to us. Through his speech we acknowledged that exceptproviding logistics services for their own company, YIJIA also provides optimallogistics solution for other companies like NongFu spring, who benefit fromlarge transportation costs saving by YIJIA’s service. YIJIA also find out that abig problem is about the distribution from large companies to smaller branches,so what she is doing now is to create a comprehensive logistic platform to dothe B2B business. Their platform has attracted many enterprises to form into asame group despite many problems they may face. YIJIA regards this integrationas a must in the future and definitely they have made a great step forward.
Afterthe speech, Mr. Sheng welcomed all questions raised by us, we really had a hot discussion.And one of us were highly praised by him, we were also pleased to hear thecomments he made to our class.
Thenwe made a tour to warehouses of the company. For the first time we had seenautomatic warehousing in real life. Parameters like temperature, location,where to go, and what to move etc are controlled by computer center precisely,thus only 3 engineers are needed in there to be responsible for daily maintenance.And we also paid a visit to the company’s distribution center to see how itworks. We did benefit a lot from this visiting.

Thanksto the golden opportunity provided by this program, which enabled us to see howthose in the books can be applied into practice, and have the chance to talkwith chairman of the board to share his experience both in past and in future.It also remains more consideration to us on how logistics will be changed inthe future, and gave some lights on our own career choices.

LastFriday, we visited YIJIA Logistics and its automatic warehouse and distributioncenter. The chairman of the board introduced the structure and strategy of thegroup. Especially they are trying to have exploration in the field of logisticssystem and platform, which is a very brilliant idea. After that, we had a visiton the factory to see how the equipment works, and it has a complete andefficient procedure. The distribution center was also impressive to me. Theprincipal told us some management techniques about the group.

Avery nice visit to YIJIA Logistics. It will encourage us to spare no effort tostudy harder and consider the relationship between the theory and practice,which includes serval parts of the real logistics systems. Mr. Sheng’s speechis very clear and systematic. As a result, we all have learnt a lot from it.Real practice differs from the academic theory to some extent, while be same insome ways.

Todaywe visited YIJIA Logistics Ltd.，which is aspecialized logistics company of Yihaijiali Groups set up in 2007. Mr.Sheng，thechairman of the board in YIJIA Logistics introduced the core competences of thecompany to us and explained an advanced logistics system they have been tryingto build. According to Mr. Sheng's speech，we've learnedthat YIJIA Logistics focus on distribution of consumption goods, such as fastfood in urban areas，which also has an improving warehouse management system.We've also learned 2 main kinds of storage racks，drive-in andcrossbeam docks. The former could store up more goods and the later could allowmore efficient access to goods.
Bythis visit，we havelearnt the enterprising spirit from YIJIA Logistics，whichtry to become a pioneer of new smart logistics system in China.
