At noon of December 5, the Shanghai-Hong Kong Shipping Industry Exchange Luncheon was held in Pudong Shanghai. Mr. Zhang Lin, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Transportation Committee, Mr. Zhou Yajun, Deputy Director of Shanghai Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, Mr. Chan Fan, Secretary for Transport and Housing Bureau of Hong Kong, Mr. Li Songen, Deputy Secretary-General for Transport and Housing Bureau of Hong Kong, Mr. Wang Shifa, Deputy Director of Hong Kong Marine Department, Mr. Benjamin Wong, Head of Transport and Industrial of InvestHK, Mr. Yi Zhiming, member of Legislative Council of Hong Kong, Mr. Chen Yingming, Executive Vice President of China Ports and Harbours Association, Mr. Zhang Ye, President of Shanghai Shipping Exchange, Prof. Huang Youfang, President of Shanghai Maritime University and President of China Institute of Navigation, Prof. Shi Xin, Vice President of Shanghai Maritime University, as well as over 60 people from Shanghai and Hong Kong shipping industry attended the luncheon.
President Huang Youfang welcomed the people from Hong Kong’s shipping industry to Shanghai and thanked Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission for its support. He briefed the development of SMU in shipping field in recent years and said that Shanghai Maritime University would make greater efforts in personnel training, enterprise-university-research cooperation and other aspects to promote talent exchanges between Shanghai and Hong Kong governments and shipping enterprises.
Deputy Director Zhang Lin thanked people from Shanghai and Hong Kong shipping industries for their support for the development of Shanghai's Shipping. He hoped Shanghai and Hong Kong could deepen cooperation in government, research institutes and markets in general to contribute the strategy of building a maritime power. He emphasized the efforts made by Shanghai Maritime University in personnel training for the entire shipping industry and fully recognized the support of SMU in government decision-making and shipping development.
Secretary Chan Fan said in his speech that Shanghai is the originator of Hong Kong's shipping industry. He hoped that people from shipping industries of Shanghai and Hong Kong could enhance communication and exchange in the future and deepen cooperation in port planning, operational efficiency, cost control and technological development. He also reviewed the measures taken by Shanghai Maritime University to sign personnel training agreements with University of Hong Kong in August this year to jointly train professionals in maritime law. He was looking forward to cooperating in more fields with SMU in the future.
The luncheon was jointly organized by Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Shanghai Maritime University.
