Recently, “Belt and Road” Advanced Training Project on Ship Energy Efficiency Management and Data Collection opened at Shanghai Maritime University. Prof. Shi Xin, Vice President of SMU, heads of related colleges and 20 trainees from 8 maritime countries including Bangladesh, Kenya, Philippines and Malaysia attended the opening ceremony.
Prof. Shi Xin welcomed the participants and introduced the history and current situation of SMU as well as the status of the MTCC-Asia hosted by SMU. He said the training will take the opportunity of implementing the “Belt and Road” (Maritime Silk Road) Initiative and completing the affairs commissioned by IMO to show the technology, management and experience of the shipping industry in China in energy efficiency. This training will also introduce related contents on the global maritime rules-making, standards setting and technology R&D, disseminating Chinese navigation and marine culture.
The training project was funded by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and sponsored by SMU. The aims of the training are to help trainees to gain a better understanding of the significance and objectives of “Belt and Road” Initiative and to raise their awareness and improve their practical skills in energy efficiency management and data collection of ships.
