On December 18,the MTCC-Asia Cambodia Branch Office was formally established in Phnom Penh,the capital of Cambodia. It became the first sub-center of IMO's globalmaritime technical cooperation system. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Worksand Transport of Cambodia; LengThunYuthea and EangVengsun, Deputy Secretariesof State and more than 40 representatives from maritime authorities of Cambodia,Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, India, Indonesia, China and other countriesattended the event. Mr. Jin Yongxing, Chairman of SMUCouncil and Chairman of the MTCC-Asia, attended the ceremony and unveiled CambodianBranch Office.
The establishmentof this branch office has drawn wide attention from the Cambodian society and media.After the ceremony, Mr. Jin Yongxing was interviewed by the local media.
From December 18to December 22, MTCC-Asia organized its first five-day technical seminar andtraining courses for trainers on the field of ship energy efficiency in PhnomPenh.
The constructionand operation of the MTCC-Asia Branch Office will benefit SMU in better servingconstruction projects with relevance to One Belt One Road Initiative . At thesame time, it will set up a technological exchange platform for maritimecountries in Southeast Asian, promote the development of green shipping inCambodia and neighboring countries, boost the promotion and application ofadvanced maritime technology and nurture talents.
