On June 12th, the opening ceremony of“For Blue Dream In 2018—— 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Training Program”(hereinafter “C Blue Training Program”) summer course was held in SMU. 25 trainees from 13 different countries across Asia, Africa, Europe and South America attended this event. Prof. Huang youfang, President of SMU, Prof. Yan wei, Vice-president of SMU, Ms. Zhang Wenjuan, the charity ambassador from China Merchants Charitable Foundation and Mr. Zhang Yi, Deputy General Manager of China Merchants Port Holdings Company Limited participated in this ceremony.
President Huang said, “as a centurial university features in shipping, logistics and ocean, SMU has actively integrated itself into China’s Belt and Road through a number of initiatives for talent development and think tank building. The“C Blue Training Program”, which was established jointly by SMU and China Merchants Group, will provide localized talents for countries along the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” and become the model of training internationalized talents.”
Zhang Wenjuan said, “China Merchants Charitable Foundation has been sponsoring this program since 2016, which aimed to contribute China’s wisdom to the development of the whole world and deliver the values of co-constructing and sharing a community of common destiny. This is the second time to collaborate with SMU, and I believe that with great cooperation before, this program must be fruitful.”
Zhang Yi said, “As a pioneer in China Merchants Group to carry out the Belt and Road Initiative, CMPort wish to help with port and shipping talents training for countries along the Belt and Road.”
President Huang Youfang and Deputy General Manager Zhang Yi jointly inaugurated CMPort — SMU Belt & Road International Talent Training Centre together, which marked the formal establishment of the co-founded cooperation centre. From now on, the two parties will use this platform to play their respective advantages and establish multi-cooperation to promote the implement and development of the Belt and Road.
C Blue Training Program is a non-profit talents training program oriented to countries and regions along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. It's aimed at training leading talents for these countries and regions, facilitating the development of port and shipping industry not only locally, but also in the whole Belt and Road Initiative. Till now, this program has been held for three times and has gotten support and attention from local governments, overseas media and SASAC.
The C Blue Training Program would take one month to conduct teaching practice activities in Shanghai, Beijing, Zhangzhou and Shenzhen, of which two weeks of teaching would be organized by Shanghai Advanced Institute of International Shipping of SMU. The course would include port management, logistics management, free trade zone, international cargo transportation, Chinese culture and so on, and would be taught in English by experts in the field of port logistics, transportation management and the like. Besides, we would have a series of culture exchange activities in the forms of quality development, visiting, panel discussion and sightseeing.
