From July 1 to 3, the third InternationalConference on Maritime Policy, Technology and Education （2018 ICMPTE）was held in Shanghai.This conference was sponsored by Shanghai Maritime University and attractednearly 60 maritime experts from China and overseas. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Chairmanof the International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA), and otherdistinguished guests participated in this conference.
Professor Jin Yongxing said Shanghai was aninternational shipping center under construction and Shanghai port had becomethe world’s largest port. As a prominent maritime university, SMU was willingto work with experts and scholars all over the world to confront the challengesfrom an increasingly fast growing shipping industry and serve nationalstrategies. Professor Jin emphasized that 2018 was a momentous year for theshipping industry and he also hoped that through this academic exchange, allscholars could offer suggestions for the substantial development of theshipping industry.
