From September 6 to 7, the 1st IEEE International Symposium on Sensing and Instrumentation in IoT Era was held in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. Member of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and vice president of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, Jianrong Yang, president of SMU, Youfan Huang attended the ceremony and gave speeches. Many other distinguished guests and about 200 experts and scholars across the world participated in this significant event.
This symposium centered on the application of IoT in the fields like smart city﹑smart health, smart harbor and shipping has raised profound discussion and exchange.
President Huang said that,“Accompanied by the booming development of advanced technology, a series of new industries began to emerge. This symposium concentrated on theoretical research and developmental hotspot of IoT, which embodied the favorable situation of interdiscipline and industry-university-research collaboration. Serving national strategical demands actively, SMU would combine its own characteristics with other platforms, aiming at frontier domains to launch scientific research innovations and talents training, providing support for the construction of smart logistics, smart harbor and smart transportation. This symposium was bound to exert great impact on the development of IoT and related industries.”
This event was the first international symposium sponsored jointly by SMU and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE). It provided an international platform for the scientific research and industrial application of IoT and at the same time increased SMU’s reputation worldly.
