On November 5th, MTCC-Asia Myanmar Branch Office was founded in Myanmar Maritime University. It’s the second branch office after the foundation of MTCC-Asia Cambodia Branch Office, which was part of IMO and EU’s GHG emissions reduction strategy. Vice President of SMU and Executive Chairman of MTCC Asia, Xin Shi, Director General of Department of Maritime Administration(Myanmar), Thaung Kyaing and other distinguished guests participated in the opening ceremony.
Vice President Xin Shi appreciated Myanmar Maritime University and the Department of Maritime Administration’s support and said: “The trend of green shipping provides a broad stage for MTCC-Asia and the establishment of MTCC-Asia Myanmar Branch Office is the first achievement made by IMO under the GMN Project. Technical innovation is a requisite for enhancing green shipping and energy saving, and it’s also the primal goal and mission of MTCC-Asia.” He earnestly hoped that the branch office could work like a bridge to unite all the relevant organizations in Myanmar and to promote the communication between China and Myanmar.
This significant breakthrough was supported by the Department of Maritime Administration, Myanmar Maritime University, Ministry of Transportation and Communication, Myanmar. Director General of Department of Maritime Administration(Myanmar),Mr. Thaung Kyaing highlighted that MTCC-Asia’s sophisticated technology and experience was bound to bring Myanmar a brand new developmental theory and promising cooperation.
MTCC-Asia Myanmar Branch Office has set its goal at increasing Myanmar and its neighboring countries awareness of GHG emissions reduction and shipping energy efficiency management ability.
Delegated by IMO, MTCC-Asia was established in Shanghai Maritime University on May 15th,2017.
