On the afternoon of January 31, 2019, SMU held 2019 Chinese New Year Party to celebrate the Year of the Pig. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Chairman of SMU University Council, Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, Heads of some departments and schools as well as SMU students, altogether 300 people attended this magnificent party.
At the party, SMU’s Dance Troupe, Chorus and Orchestra brought audiences many interesting performances. The dance and singing played by international students further more climaxed the party.
Then, leaders of SMU sent each student gift money and wish them good luck in the following year. They also had intimate conversations with the students, learned their daily routines during this holiday and hoped them a happy New Year. At last, a group photo was taken and the party ended in a chorus made by all attendees.
This winter vocation, 1609 students stayed in SMU for reasons like internship, part-time job and social practice. Every department worked actively to serve and help the students. Moreover, SMU arranged various activities to enrich students’ life, provided students with free meal coupons and work-study programs.
