On May 13, International Conference on Ship Energy Efficiency 2019 held in SMU. With the guidance of International Maritime Organization(IMO), the conference was hosted by SMU, and co-organized by Hongkou District Shipping Office. Counsellor of the Mission of the European Union to the People’s Republic of China, Octavian Stamate, Vice President of SMU, Xin Shi, and other 40 representatives across the world attended the conference.
Mr Shi delivered an opening speech, introduced the advantages and fruits got by SMU in the fields of ship energy efficiency and shipping emission reduction. Mr Shi sincerely hoped that this conference would work as a platform for communicating and sharing achievements gained in the aspects of management and technology concerned with shipping emission reduction.
Mr Octavian Stamate introduced the policies and measures adopted by European Union on related issues.
This conference’s topic was“ Application of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Technology and the Main Challenges Confronted by Shipping Industry”. During the conference, attendees from Maritime Safety Administration of the People’s Republic of China, Wartsila, Port of Antwerp and other companies and universities fully displayed and communicated the newest technology, management and practice in ship energy efficiency.
Supported by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, this conference was aimed to promote the Belt and Road Initiative through the process of high-leveled international maritime technology communication and training.
