On June 24, the 2020 graduation ceremony was held at SMU. Mr. Song Baoru, Chairman of the university Council, Mr. Lu Jing, President of SMU, deans from each college, student and teacher representatives, totally over 200 people attended the on-site ceremony. More than 5,300 graduates across the country gathered in the "cloud" and witnessed this unforgettable moment through online live. Mr, Shi Xin, Vice President of SMU presided over the graduation ceremony.
Mr. Song Baoru announced the commendation for the 2020 Shanghai Excellent Graduates and Shanghai Maritime University Excellent Graduates. 62 graduate students and 186 undergraduates were rated as Shanghai Excellent Graduates. 132 graduate students and 333 undergraduates were rated as Shanghai Maritime University Excellent Graduates. He hopes that the graduates could continue to uphold the spirit of the school motto of "loyalty, sincerity, integrity and respect", make persistent efforts in their future studies and work.
President Lu Jing delivered a speech entitled "Fearless against the wind and rain, striving for better". On behalf of all teachers, students and staff, he expressed warm congratulations to the graduates, and sincere respect to the parents and teachers who nurture the growth of graduates. He hopes the graduates could shoulder the historical mission of realizing the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the China and striving to set sail in the new voyage.
